Be part of something big…
I am a single parent with a daughter who has a need for long term medical support. I have always worked and tried to manage this need whilst earning enough to support us as a family.
Over recent month’s my daughter’s condition has entailed numerous hospital visits and admissions and having exhausted all my leave I had no choice but to reduce my working hours. The reduction in hours has meant our outgoings now exceed what I can earn and leaves me struggling to make ends meet whilst still supporting my daughter in every way I can.
I heard about the Benevolent Fund through the IPA and having looked at the criteria felt that maybe this was an opportunity for some much-needed help. I found the application form requesting support, on the Benevolent Fund website, easy to complete and the direct contact with the Benevolent Fund very empathetic and caring throughout.
When I heard my application had been successful the relief was enormous. It has been an incredibly tough time and being able to pay some outstanding bills has definitely helped.

I contacted the Benevolent Fund and completed the required information. A few further questions were asked by the awarding panel but it only took a short time until I heard I would receive some support. This was an enormous relief to me. The cost of living is extremely high and being in a new country and job I had very little back up.
I am still recovering from my injuries and wish to thank the fund for the support and hope it gets more recognition for the help it offers.

A small contribution, a big impact.
Having recently moved to a new country and just started work I was knocked down by a motor vehicle suffering significant injury to the right side of my body.
I was not entitled to any insurance benefits and received no further salary from my employer. I was in a desperate position. I was unable to walk and receiving ongoing medical attention as well as needing to meet my day-to-day expenses.
I saw an article in the IFA magazine about the possible help available and decided to apply
When I became homeless with my two young children last November, I was struggling financially after having to close my business, which was my main source of income.
The support from the IFA Benevolent Fund was not just financial assistance—it was a ray of light during one of the darkest periods of my life. Knowing that I had your support gave me the courage to keep going and to find a way out of that difficult time.
